Slay the Dragon 5K

LeioMyoSarcoma (LMS) is a rare form of cancer that affects about four (4) in one million people.  It travels through the bloodstream and can affect the liver, lungs, blood vessels, and any other soft tissue in the body.  There currently is no cure for LMS, only remission if it can be attained. Because of its rarity, few doctors know how to treat it and it attracts little research.

Richard Lloyd was diagnosed with LMS in January 2007 after just a few months of symptoms.  On 1/9/07 his doctors removed his prostate and bladder, along with a large tumor in his lower abdomen.  He had radiation treatments and several rounds of aggressive chemo.  He lost his battle with LeioMyoSarcoma on February 24, 2008 at home with his family by his side.

All proceeds and donations from this event will go to the National LeioMyoSarcoma Foundation to support sarcoma research and awareness. ("Slay the Dragon" is the slogan for the foundation.)  This event is hosted by the family of Richard Lloyd.
